Here at Cloncaia we believe there should be 1 World Animal Day on the yearly calendar and and 1 day each month of the year titled Animal Appreciation Day.

We say this as for any pet lover, they really do give a whole lot of love and enjoyment to us folk & obviously any cruelty to them is abhorrent. 

Let’s be honest many pet lovers find pets easier & less complicated than human folk.

We are personalized gifts specialists & pet lovers here, but as we understand it – there is also a European Charter of Animal Rights & the UN does not seem to have a treaty like for human rights. Each member state in the European Union and different countries around the world have their own laws around animal cruelty but more can be done.

Interestingly we have read that the Treaty of Lisbon in the EU law has recognises animals as sentient beings which is positive.

🐾 What Is World Animal Day?

We are not historians around here at Cloncaia but as we understand it – it stared on the 24^th of March 1925 in Berlin when 5,000 people attended the first such day.

It was celebrated on the 4^th of October 1929.

Henrich Zimmermann orchestrated this.

Thankfully in beautiful Florence in 1931 – the International Protection Congress accepted Mr. Zimmermann’s idea and a universal day for this was born.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and the promotion of animal rights worldwide is the same.

The date of October 4^th was picked to coincide with St. Francis of Assisi who is the patron saint of animals and ecology which was a nice touch.

The same way when a dog jumps on you he / she doesn’t care about race, sex, political beliefs, the mission of this day really is for a better world for animals.

It hurts animal lover in their hearts when they see cruelty to animals.

Frankly it is not even understandable.

But education is necessary as a basis point.
